Dealing with trials
How do you deal with those hard knocks? How do you go about making hard decisions? It’s easy to say “Trust in the Lord”—the Bible assures us of God’s eternal love. Our pastors, friends, family, and other encouragers are there to support us. “Pray about it” we are told and we do!
But, when it comes to those heart shattering trials and hard decisions we still get anxious and indecisive—we often suffer and agonize when trying to accept change and decide what is the right thing to do.
What can I do to help my loved one in this time of need?
What is God’s will?
What is going to be best for my family?
I wish I had the answers—answers that would soothe my tired spirit and yours, as well. I am weary now—tired of fighting against those forces that want to bring me down–frightened about the dangers my family member is facing. Yet I know the answer is to go into the Lord’s presence—delve into his Word—talk to Him—listen and pray and pray and pray.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not upon your own understanding. Submit to him in all your ways and He will make your paths straight. Prov. 3:5-6
The LORD provided Moses with this message for the Israelites:
“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine open you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
There are other numerous assurances of God’s grace and tender mercy for His children.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans for a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 28:11
Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given unto you as well. Matthew 6:33
Oh, what blessed promises these are from our Lord!
If you have a special verse of scripture that brings you peace, comfort, and strength in times of trial, please share in the comments. I need your prayers.
My “Go To”, my primary life verse (of which I have many) is Philippians 4:13. I realize in that verse is God’s promise that I never again have to rely on my own strength to do anything. Whether task or trial, when I grow weary of trying and failing on my own, I remind myself that like Samson, my strength comes from God. In Him, I can do all things. I pray His strength fill you as you seek to, and will, endure whatever trial God brings your way next my friend. He brings us trials not as punishment, but as conditioning. He is seeking to give us what we’ve asked for. Sanctification to be worthy of being called His dear children. God’s blessings sweet friend. I’m coming alongside you in prayer for whatever your need.
I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 NIV
Thank you, J.D., for sharing this message of hope and perseverance. I am so thankful for your prayers. I know I cannot get through this on my own and I’m so blessed that God is with me and to have such faithful and supportive friends.
