Thankful for second chances
Have you been gifted with second chances? Perhaps you made a mistake and had the opportunity to ask forgiveness and move forward. Or you tried very hard to achieve a goal and didn’t make it. But then you had the opportunity to try again and succeeded. Are you thankful for second chances?
Jesus shared a parable about second chances:
“A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’
“‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down’.” (Luke 13:6-8).
Sometimes our hopes and dreams don’t seem to be in God’s plan.
More than fifty years ago, I dated a fine young man who loved me. For my seventeenth birthday, he gave me a cameo ring which I kept all these years. But I wasn’t ready to settle down and I let him go. We both married others and had good marriages, blessed with children and grandchildren.
Sometimes God has a plan we never imagined.
My dear Farmer Bob passed away four years ago. Unknown to me, my high school sweetheart’s wife also went to be with Jesus. He and I never realized we shopped at the same grocery store until a year ago.
My sweetheart and I met on the frozen food aisle.
God gifted us with a second chance and the cameo became my engagement ring.
God’s plans are worth the wait.
