The power of a smile

Smile, it is the key that fits the lock of everybody’s heart. Anthony J. D’Angelo

We have a new baby in our family.

When the baby smiles, everyone smiles.

A smile can be powerful!

The effects of a smile are both immediate and far reaching.

Smiles bring joy to others and can brighten someone’s miserable day. Smiles are contagious–in the best possible way!

We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do. Mother Teresa

Smiles are one of the best ways to share the Fruit of the Spirit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

And there are no laws (that I know of) against smiling. We can bring immeasurable joy and kindness to others when we smile. A smile can help lift someone out of sadness, ease the pain of a bad day, and share a ray of sunshine in the clouds of gloom.

Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love. Mother Teresa.

In a world that is often in conflict, when trials and stress burden us, and we stumble on our journey, a smile may be difficult to achieve. But, we recognize the value of a smile when we receive it. A smile brings joy–makes us feel better–gives us hope. If we take a moment to consider the joy a smile can spread, perhaps we can share that hope and optimism more often. On our happy days, it’s not too difficult to share smiles throughout the day, but on hard days, mustering smiles can be a challenge.

Too often, we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” Leo Buscaglia.

I pray we can smile–often. Our smiles are a blessing to others.
